Just wanted to share some thoughts, news, and photos….Today marks the two year anniversary of me graduating and leaving UNT. It simultaneously feels as if a lot has happened and as if I haven’t moved at all. Exactly a year ago, I was planning/manifesting/stressing my trip out of the States that would take place two weeks from then. Now I’m back in Oklahoma and just got accepted as an official Factory Obscura artist, as well as being accepted as part of the design team for our new permanent installation, Mix Tape at the WOMB. As the year is nearing its end, there is a lot of contemplation that is happening as well as a feeling of coming full circle.

The first photo below is of an article written about Beyond in the Oklahoman, a local newspaper. This image is from a couple of months ago but I kept forgetting to share it (especially since I’m in it.) The second image is a photo taken during the Art Group Show of my installation, November.

Hey guys! A lot has happened recently. For starters, Factory Obscura’s Beyond has been up and running and we’ve moved on to planning our next big thing.  I’ve also joined a collective of young emerging artist called Art Group OKC. We are having a group show December 8th. So I’ve been trying to hustle and create a small video installation for that, as well as sell some older paintings. Here is an article about the group explaining more.

So many people who know me, know that I’m constantly worrying about the future and moving forward in life. Well this past week I actually went to visit Carnegie Mellon’s Graduate MFA open house in Pittsburgh, PA. I just have to say, CMU is such an impressive school, but being there I realized something. Even with everyone at my former residencies telling me to wait for grad school, I’ve always felt this immense amount of pressure to go already. When else would I have this amount of freedom to do so?! Well being there, it became very apparent that yes I am to young. I’ve been trying to fast track so many thing in my life that I think I’ve been missing the point. So I’m pleased to announce, I’m going to wait for grad school. Give it a few years and I’ll be announcing my acceptance somewhere 🙂

Hello all! I’ve taken a bit of a sabbatical upon returning from my leave overseas, but after a recent move, I now have a personal studio again and will continue my practice soon enough. During this time off though, I’ve been collaborating with a local artist collective called Factory Obscura on their newest interactive installation called BEYOND. This Oklahoma based group creates large scaled immersive experiences and I’m excited for BEYOND’s opening night September 21st. Here is a photo of me in their last installation, SHIFT.

Also, months ago the Arteles catalogue featuring our residency group came out and I’ve been meaning to share that as well.

March 9th, 2018

2018 has been an incredible year thus far! I’m going on my third month away from the States and finally made it to Finland for my residency. I have met some pretty remarkable people along the way and have loved the growth that I’ve experienced during this time. Arteles has finally posted our artist profiles for the month of March and I just wanted to share that and show off this very impressive group of people. Also, here are some incredible photos of our work from Taylor Foam at the Museum of Ice Cream Miami!

Shortly after finding out that I got accepted into my residency, I got a job offer at Taylor Foam. This has been, by far, one of the best jobs I’ve ever had. I am apart of the creative team as a fabrication artist and we make displays, signs, and props for museums churches, retailers, etc. Some of our partnerships are with the Science Museum of Oklahoma, the Toy & Action Figure Museum, and Life Church. Best part is, this job is also supportive of me leaving for my residencies. I definitely feel very fortunate right now.

In addition, Women’s Work (the art show I’m participating in) will be up August 19th -26th. Here is some information about each of the artists participating- Women_s Work

Here are some photos from my first week of work!

I have some very exciting news! I have been selected to participate in TWO artist residencies overseas this upcoming year! The first one is at Cafe Tissardmine in Rissani, Morocco for a month and the second one is a thematic residency called Silence Awareness Existence (SAE) at the Arteles Creative Center in Haukijarvi, Finland, also for a month. During my time away, I plan to create audio/video works as well as focus on my novel I’ve been working on.

On a side note, the Denton Gallery has invited me to participate in a group show next month and I’ve recently joined the Paseo Arts Association in Oklahoma.

Between July 4th-July 18th, I had been a resident at the Luminous Bodies Artist Residency hosted at Artscape Gibraltar Point on Toronto Island. During my time there, I was fortunate enough to get to know the facilitator, Teresa Ascencao, and all of the other talented 12 artists there. We ended the residency with an open studio and exhibition where I got to showcase my installation, Let’s Share a Moment Together. My experience during the residency was incredibly memorable and I will value my time on the island forever.
